Question: Do you have any practical tips to improve the truck parking situation and address one of the drivers' biggest concerns?
Answer: There are several things a carrier can do to improve the truck parking situation. One is to educate your customers on the need to provide safe parking with amenities (access to restrooms, lighting, etc) for your drivers when they are held up at their facility. Another is to encourage your drivers to participate in the truck parking studies that are being conducted at the federal, state, and in some cases, local levels. This is one of the best ways to educate the public sector on the challenges faced by drivers and on the specific corridors and locations where there is the biggest need for additional parking capacity.
Question: How can we participate in the Top Industry Issues Survey?
Answer: The annual ‘Top Industry Issues Survey’ launches every August and we publicize it through all trucking industry and supply chain trade press, as well as through the national and state industry associations. You can sign up to receive notices of ATRI’s studies and surveys on our website at www.truckingresearch.org.
Question: How do you define a "crash"?
Answer: In ATRI’s Crash Predictor Model, a crash is any DOT-reportable crash as the dataset used in the analysis is FMCSA’s MCMIS data.
