It’s September, which can only mean one thing: Truck Driver Appreciation Week! While we appreciate the incredible work truck drivers do to keep goods and services moving across the country all year, this week is dedicated to honoring this noble profession and saying thank you to all of the incredible drivers in our lives.
This year, as in 2020, the week has taken on an even more special meaning as we reflect on how the trucking industry stepped up to the plate and made such an indelible impact in keeping the supply chain moving forward during the COVID lockdown. In addition, we’d like to take this time to honor all the truck drivers and their family members who lost their battle with COVID over the past year. Indeed, it has been an uncertain time for many, both on and off the road, and truckers have proved their place as a backbone for many.
How can you celebrate your drivers this week? Here are a few ideas for carriers and companies to show their appreciation:
- Send care packages to your driver’s homes. Since most drivers aren’t coming into your office, show your appreciation by sending a care package to their homes with some swag or a thank you gift.
- Do a driver takeover on your social media accounts. While you should be highlighting your incredible drivers all year, take this week to pass the reins over to a driver so they can go behind the scenes and show what life is like on the road.
- Celebrate your prospective drivers. If you have any drivers in your recruiting or application pipeline, send them a note as well-wishing them a happy Truck Driver Appreciation Week. It’s never too early to start on the right foot!
