Webinar Q&A: “How Your Online Community Can Become Home For Your Drivers and Their Families”

Did you have a chance to attend our recent webinar, How Your Online Community Can Become Home For Your Drivers and Their Families”? We received more questions than we had time to answer in the allotted time frame, so our presenters from AMT Squirrel Works, David Abell and Dallas Racklin, have answered them below in this Q&A-style blog post. If you weren’t able to join the live webinar, don’t worry – you can watch it on-demand anytime!

Question: What is the biggest impediment to getting started with video in marketing?

Answer: The biggest impediment to video is simply not doing it. Often, when we talk to a company about video marketing they are worried about things such as the cost of equipment and the software needed for good video. Our advice is to just start. Most of us have access to a camera on our phone and the video quality is excellent.

Question: How do I get drivers to want to be on camera?

Answer: Just be real with them and simply have a conversation. It is human nature to want to talk about yourself, and drivers don’t get that opportunity as often as we do. Simply asking them things like what their favorite truck is, or if they have any favorite facilities or places to take a break when they’re over the road.

Question: Are there any tools you recommend for video editing?

Answer: At Squirrel Works we use Adobe Premiere, but that can be a little more than you need when you first get started. Something such as openshot would be good for a beginner. And if you’re just looking to send out 1 to 1 videos, a tool like Vidyard is something that we really like to use

Question: What’s the best way to measure conversions from our social media marketing efforts?

Answer: We believe that the best way to measure conversions is to use a CRM to track success. In addition to that we recommend you get cookies added to your website, so that when someone goes from your social media to your website, you can advertise to them at a later date if they don’t convert initially.

Question: How can we get more engagement from our social media channels?

Answer: Be authentic with the content and remember to give more than you take. What we mean by that is: you want to make sure you are giving out helpful information just as much as you are asking for your audience to help point professional drivers your way!
