Did you have a chance to attend our webinar last week, "Improve Speed-to-Hire by Providing a Better Candidate (and Recruiter) Experience"? We received more questions than we had time to answer in the allotted time frame, so we've answered them below.
Jeremy Reymer, Founder and CEO of DriverReach and presenter on the webinar, answers each of the questions we received in this Q&A-style blog post. Whether or not you were able to attend, you’ll be able to put these tips to use immediately.
Question: Should recruiters text from their personal mobile phones?
Answer: The quick and short answer is NO. If the applicant opted-in to receive SMS messages, then those should come from the applicant tracking system or CRM — not from a company employee’s personal cell phone. There are legal purposes for this, in addition to potential safety concerns.
Question: What are your thoughts about weekend coverage? I know you mentioned that we should call drivers right away. Should we have someone available 24/7?
Answer: That’s going to depend on the size of the operation, but most companies don’t have around the clock coverage. What you can do, however, is have a notification that the applicant receives letting them know that you received their application and will respond the next business day. An even better approach, providing a better candidate experience, would be to allow the applicant to select a date/time for a conversation with a recruiter. This functionality could come from a link in the notification. DriverReach is building that functionality now and we expect to release it during the 2nd half of 2019.
Question: Companies can wait 30 days to respond to a request for employment verification. How can you speed that up?
Answer: The best way to get that information as quickly as possible is to first discover whether or not that previous employment information can be purchased from an existing database. HireRight/DAC, Driver iQ, Driver Facts, and VOE Plus are all growing databases where previous employment information can be purchased for a relatively nominal fee. Beyond that, the golden rule should apply. Expect people to respond in a reasonably timely manner because you do that for others when they need a quick reply.
Question: What is a good CRM software program?
Answer: The obvious answer is one that helps you manage your leads and operate as efficiently as possible. That being said, there are very few CRM systems built around the driver recruiting world — in fact, I believe DriverReach may be the only one that includes both CRM + ATS functionality.
Question: Does your ATS integrate with ClickFunnels?
Answer: I wasn’t familiar with that until this question, but I will look into it and see if an integration makes sense for our customers. Thank you for the tip!
Question: Is a phone system of some kind needed separately from DriverReach? I use Grasshopper.
Answer: A phone system is not part of DriverReach’s interface, so you can use Grasshopper, or any other VOIP or landline system — whichever helps you have the best quality conversations with applicants.
Question: I want to find some good independent recruiting companies that I could work for. Do you know how I could do that? It's been difficult to find.
Answer: This may be a better question to answer after we are able to dive a little deeper and ask a few more questions. If that’s an option for you, feel free to give DriverReach (317-610-0080) or DriverRecruits (888-959-2815) a call!
Question: What is the name of Chad’s podcast?
Answer: The Recruit and Retain Podcast: Trucking Edition. I highly encourage you to subscribe. Nothing quite like it in our industry!
